The Childs site was briefly mined open pit in 1913. Historic Records indicate, close to 10,000 tones High Grade Iron Ore were excavated at that time.

The site, which is likely a large Skarn Deposit, has been revisited numerous times in the 1940’s and 50’s by Frobisher Exploration Company Limited. Over that time, Frobisher conducted diamond drilling and surface work consisting of three open cuts and several trenches. Historic records indicate 6 193 330 tons of Iron Ore currently remains at the site. (MRC 11, p.169).
